2017-18 Auburn Season Review

The 2017-2018 athletic season was probably one of the best in Auburn's history. Even with the roller coaster of ups and downs, the highs made history. New Year's Six bowl game for football after beating two #1 teams; men's basketball winning the SEC title and making the NCAA Tournament; equestrian taking home the national title; men's golf winning the SEC Title and finishing in the top 4 in nationals; baseball winning a Regional and bringing home the first Super Regional game win.

As has been the case the last two years, let's take a look at each sport's season aesthetically. Teams listed are those in which the Auburn Uniform Database tracks uniform records throughout the season.

Auburn Women Sport New Pink Basketball Uniforms

Just about every female athletic team wears a pink uniform for a game nowadays. It's most popular on the women's basketball front. Auburn has been no exception to this, but the Tigers debuted a new design this past week.

Softball Debuts New Uniforms

New uniforms are big news nowadays, especially with a growing community that cares what players are wearing on the field. In a world of ever-changing, always-new uniforms, Auburn is still much more conservative than other programs. Even though the football uniforms will probably never drastically change, other Auburn Athletic uniforms will. Recently, Auburn baseball revealed new threads. Today, it's the softball team's turn.

Auburn Baseball Unveils New Uniforms

Back in November, we published a post regarding new uniforms possibly coming for Auburn Baseball, and what the entire set would look like. Not much information came out on this front since then, with Auburn being pretty tight-lipped on anything uniform-wise. Today, though, the program has revealed the entire uniform set, which means it is time to dive in.

Auburn's Peach Bowl Aesthetic History

The Auburn Tigers travel to Atlanta, Georgia, for the annual Chick-fil-a Peach Bowl. This marks Auburn's fifth appearance in the Peach Bowl, which is the second most visited bowl game for the Tigers. Auburn has played in the Sugar and Gator Bowls six times now. Let's take a look at Auburn's history in the Peach Bowl and the overall bowl history.

Dissecting Auburn Uniforms: Auburn University Marching Band

Throughout all the teams I have documented uniforms, they consist of all team members wearing the same uniform. Soccer and Volleyball break that trend, but only one player is outfitted in something different, yet still rather similar. The AUMB is a completely different undertaking. The band consists of the drum majors, the band itself, and the Tiger Eyes, itself consisting of subgroups with a uniform of their own. That’s a lot of different pieces that come together to create one cohesive look on game day. Let’s try and break down the Auburn University Marching Band aesthetic. This might take a while.

Football season is coming to an end soon. Basketball season just began. But my attention at the moment is focused on Baseball.

New Uniforms for Auburn Club Sports - Hockey & Wheelchair Basketball

Everyone is familiar with a university's main sports - baseball, basketball, most likely football. The NCAA sponsors 90 championships - 41 men, 46 women, and three co-ed - across 23 different sports. But there's another level of athletics at most schools, one that doesn't get the nationally televised exposure or even scholarship money. Club sports feature many different sports not sponsored by the NCAA, like bass fishing, Ultimate Frisbee, sailing, and many others.

2017 Fall Apparel Line

The new season is so close. The first games begin in just a few days. Auburn's first home game is this coming Saturday. But what will you be wearing? What will you be purchasing this year? Here, we take a look at all the new items that will be filling the shelves at your favorite stores in Auburn. Most of the products, images, and prices are from the AUTeamShop website. Prices and selection may vary depending of store.

Do remember that this is not the entire selection of products available this season. The stores will typically carry more than is ever available online. Plus, once the season goes on, stores get more in stock.

2017 NCAA Uniform Recap

The summer is tough for any sports fan, with few athletic events in action. That is even more true for college athletic fans, and even more so for football fans. But the summer isn’t completely dry of all action, as this is the time that teams reveal their new uniform plans for the upcoming season. With athletic uniforms becoming more of a big deal than ever, more teams join the party each year. This large undertaking, documenting each uniform change made public prior to the beginning of the season, is one of my favorite projects each year. 

Last year’s edition saw over 115 teams listed. This year, the list has topped 120. The teams listed below have announced a range of the smallest changes to full out new uniforms.

Auburn Helmet News

Over the last few years, Auburn has might small changes to the helmets in one way or another. This year is no different. This season will see at least one new helmet model as well as a brand new design feature.

I enjoyed it last year, so thought we should do it again this year. Once again, I was not let down by the ideas some come up with. Some were crazy. Some were more tame. Auburn Almost Changed Logos in 1995

A week ago was the report that Auburn University was officially changing the academic logo. A few days later, Jeremy Henderson of The War Eagle Reader (one of my favorite sites; could spend hours jumping down Auburn-related rabbit holes) posted a piece regarding the Auburn logo. In fact, the time that Auburn tried to change the logo entirely.

Auburn's New Academic Logo Looks Familiar

Last Thursday, it was announced that Auburn University would be adopting a "new" logo to represent the University as a whole. Beginning this fall, Auburn University will be unified under a single logo.

Exclusive: Mysterious 1964 Auburn Football Helmet

Auburn's football uniforms have been nearly the same for the last 60 years or so. But there were plenty of changes the years prior to to 1966, when the AU logo first donned the helmets. From orange and green uniforms in the 1930s, to blank helmets that eventually sported the player numbers, it took Auburn a while to find a true uniform style that they would eventually stick with for decades to come.

Over on Twitter, I typically get a lot of questions in regards to Auburn's uniforms, people wondering where to purchase a specific piece of Auburn merchandise, and even some questions about gameday for the different sports on campus. Recently, I had a question posed to me that I hadn't thought of whatsoever beforehand - Will Auburn celebrate the 125th year of football like they did the 100th anniversary?

New Batting Helmets for Baseball and Softball

One team is looking to defend it's conference championship and run to the final game of the season. The other is looking to fight out of the bottom of the conference. Auburn Softball started the new season last week with a win over #1 Oklahoma. Auburn Baseball's year begins this weekend, as the young team looks to gain some needed experience. Two teams on rather different paths, but each sporting some new looks to the new year.

Auburn Wears Nickname for First Time Ever

The Auburn men's basketball team has debuted a new uniform for the first home conference game of the season for the second time in three years. Back in 2015, the Tigers wore Under Armour's newest template and design with brackets on the shorts and jerseys, and tiger stripes sublimated on the majority of the uniform. Thursday night would see the debut of Auburn's third different uniform in two years.

Auburn's Sugar Bowl Aesthetic History

For the first time in twelve years, the Auburn Tigers will be heading back to the Super Dome in New Orleans. This will mark the sixth time the Tigers have played in the Sugar Bowl, tied for the most bowl appearances with the Gator Bowl. Auburn's Sugar Bowl history is nothing short of a deep and entertaining rabbit hole.
