The Tiger Classic hosted Arkansas-Pine Bluff, California, and East Tennessee State. Auburn's uniforms for the weekend are as follows:
Auburn started the weekend with a game versus Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Friday night, where the Tigers won 2-1, in what was a wonderful pitching duel. The two Auburn pitchers combined for 14 strike outs, 11 of which came from starting pitcher Dillon Ortman, which surpasses his previous career high of six.
The second game of the week was against California, which ended in a 5-0 win for the Bears. After the game Coach Golloway stated that he was going to shake up some things within the team. He wasn't happy to say the least.
Sunday featured Auburn and ETSU in the final game of the weekend. Auburn broke out the blue tops for the first time this season. Auburn went up 2-0 early, and never scored again. ETSU scored one in the 7th and 9th innings, forcing the game to go to extra innings in which the Bucs won the game 3-2, ending a rough weekend for the Tigers.
Monday brought the news that three players - Hunter Kelly, Patrick Savage, and Chase Williamson - left the team. Losing three good players is not what this team needed after a really tough start to the season, but hopefully Golloway can get things going soon.
Uniform combination records are now:
- Orange jerseys, white pants, striped stirrups 2-0
- White jerseys, white pants, plain stirrups 1-1
- Blue jerseys, white pants, plain stirrups 0-1
- Grey jerseys, grey pants 0-1
This week's game include another 3pm Wednesday game, this time versus Alabama A&M. The weekend series is against Presbyterian, with a 6:00 game Friday, 3:00 Saturday, and Sunday's game will be at 1:00. The Capital City Classic versus Alabama will be Tuesday, March 4, in Montgomery at 7:00.
The weekend's weather could possibly be really great, so get to the park and enjoy the weekend outside! We've had cold weather too long and I know a lot of people are suffering from cabin fever like I have been!
War Eagle!
